Easter Service

I had the privilege this past weekend to attend the Fort Jackson Protestant Easter Service of the U.S. Army in Columbia, South Carolina. According to Chaplain Johnston, we distributed almost 5000 Military Bibles to the new enlistees present. I cannot fully express to you the honor I felt to be there with these precious young men and women preparing to serve our country. It was thrilling to see them attend the service recognizing their personal commitment to serve God.

I encouraged them in my brief remarks that in their pursuit of the motto, “Army Strong” that they would include along with, “Strong Body, Strong Mind”, should be “Strong Spirit”. They let out a very loud “Hua!”(the Army’s way of exclamation). Spiritual fitness is the key to overcoming trauma and life’s struggles. I told them that this also includes war trauma.

God’s word is powerful.

For those of us outside the military, let us also have the goal of a Strong Body, Strong Mind and a Strong Spirit.
